Ben Hethcoat is a documentary filmmaker and digital storyteller whose work bridges politics, journalism, and culture. As Senior Video Producer at Crooked Media, he oversees the video production and post-production for flagship shows like Pod Save America, Pod Save the World, What A Day, Strict Scrutiny, and Assembly Required with Stacey Abrams. He also creates and directs original digital series, including “Political Experts React” and “Liberal Tiers,” which have helped drive Crooked’s massive YouTube audience growth.

His latest documentary, Coroner to the Stars (2025), explores the life and legacy of Dr. Thomas Noguchi, Hollywood’s most infamous forensic pathologist. The film is fiscally sponsored by The Japanese American National Museum (JANM) and was a participant in the Tribeca Film Institute | CNN Films American Storytellers’ Lab. It premiered at the 2025 Slamdance Film Festival where it won the Audience Award for Best Documentary Feature Film.

Prior to Crooked, Ben was a video producer at Marketplace from American Public Media, where he developed original digital series like ”I’ve Always Wondered” and “Economics on Tap,” translating complex economic stories into engaging, accessible video content.

Ben is a WGA-East member and has spoken at SXSW about the rise of YouTube as the #1 platform for podcasting.
